At The Summit at Rittenhouse, we take massage therapy a step further. We know a massage should be relaxing, but our massage therapist's primary goal is to make sure all of our clients leave feeling less soreness, tightness, and discomfort. Our massage therapist uses deep tissue massage to help our clients recover from injury, relieve stress, rejuvenate their body and mind, and restore their entire body from head to toe so our clients can get back to doing what they love. Whether you need a 30 minute deep tissue massage to ease your tight lower back that's been bothering you all week, or you need a 90 minute massage to relieve stress from head to toe, our massage therapy sessions will achieve your goals of getting back to being active and healthy.

Cohesive Wellness

Our clients receive personalized massage sessions involving Swedish, deep tissue, connective tissue and myofascial techniques based on the clients exact goals. For clients that are also personal training clients at The Summit, our massage therapists communicate with the personal trainers we have on staff to help guide our clients to the best path to recovery based on their workout intensities, areas of focus, and more. Choose from single massage therapy sessions as well as monthly massage therapy membership options that best suit your needs.

Reducing stress and increasing relaxation

A massage from one of our Philadelphia massage therapists will leave your muscles feeling relaxed and reduce everyday stress, not just immediately after the appointment, but for days and sometimes weeks after your massage.

Reducing pain and muscle soreness and tension

Massage therapy is great for working out problem areas like lower back pain and chronic stiffness. A professional massage therapist will be able to accurately target the source of your pain and help achieve the perfect massage regimen to get rid of pain and discomfort.

Improving circulation, energy and alertness

Loosening muscles and tendons during a deep tissue massage allows increased blood flow throughout the body. Improving your circulation can have several positive effects on the rest of your body, including reduced fatigue and pain management!

Lowering heart rate and blood pressure

Long-term studies have shown that a consistent massage therapy program can decrease diastolic and systolic blood pressure.

Improving immune function

Stimulation of the lymph nodes during a massage re-charges the body’s natural defense system.

What To Expect
During Your Massage

Before a massage therapy session starts, your massage therapist will ask you about any symptoms, your medical history and what your goals for the session are.

In a typical massage therapy session, clients either undress or wear loose fitting clothing. Undress only to the point that you’re comfortable. Then, you lie on a table and cover yourself with a sheet. Your massage therapist will leave the room when you undress before the massage and when you dress after it. Throughout the session, your massage therapist will ask if the pressure they are applying is to your comfort level.

Depending on the client’s preference, your massage therapist may use oil or lotion to reduce friction on your skin. If you are allergic to any lotions or oils, please inform your massage therapist in the intake form before your sessions begins.

A deep tissue massage session may last from 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the type of massage and how much time you have. Breathe normally throughout your massage.

Relaxing music may be played during your massage and you may want to talk during the session, or you can tell your licensed massage therapist if you prefer quiet.

If a massage therapist is pushing too hard, ask for lighter pressure. Occasionally you may have a sensitive spot in a muscle that feels like a knot. It’s likely to be uncomfortable while your massage therapist works it out. But if it becomes painful, speak up.

When booking a deep tissue massage at The Summit at Rittenhouse, our clients get a truly personalized experience. We listen intently to your goals you’d like to get out of each massage therapy appointment and work towards achieving those goals to get you back on the path of doing what you love. For our clients who are also clients of our personal training programs, the personalization goes a step further by having our personal trainers and massage therapists communicate on what muscle groups you typically experience soreness or tightness, or what muscle groups you may have just worked out during today’s session, so you won’t have to explain what problem areas you typically have. Additionally, your massage therapist can communicate with your personal trainer to explain how the massage therapy session went and if the goals have been achieved or if additional massage therapy work is needed, creating a fully encompassing wellness treatment.

Although our massage therapy room is located within our private personal training studio, our massage therapy clients feel completely separated by our virtually soundproof room, hearing only the relaxing sounds of our trickling waterfall and calming music. Lighting, temperature, and even the aroma in the massage therapy room can all be personalized to our clients’ liking. Our massage therapy clients will also get to take advantage of using our beautiful restrooms and award-winning locker room before and after their massage experience. This experienced is enhanced by being conveniently located just steps from Rittenhouse Square in Center City, Philadelphia, PA.

A massage should be an enjoying, relaxing experience that leaves you feeling reinvigorated and rejuvenated. This is why The Summit at Rittenhouse has only picked the most professional and educated licensed massage therapists available. All of our massage therapists on staff at our Rittenhouse Square location have a minimum of 500 hours of massage therapy practice, are educated at a massage therapy school, and are a Licensed Massage Therapist certified in the state of Pennsylvania.
